Hello!

First thing, let’s get the name out of the way. It’s a tough one, believe me, I know. When I met my husband I think I blinked real hard, and then told him he was going to need to run that one by me again.

Clue-T-A. Clue like the board game, Tea like the drink, and then the letter “A”. Easy! My first name is pronounced like Uh-lawn-uh. Easy!

I am running as a Democrat for Kansas House District 9, which is the western half of both Allen and Neosho counties. If you want to know exactly where the district line is, here’s the map. If you’re like me, you might find the district demographics fun, so here’s that info as well.

I’m frustrated with what’s been happening in Topeka. We deserve representation for everyone, not just the loudest voices. And since a Democrat has not run for this seat since 2008, for many voters this will be the first time a local Democrat has spoken to them about issues that affect them personally, so I am working hard to reach as many unaffiliated voters, and Democrats who don’t often make it to the polls as I can.

I gave a speech recently that covers how someone who grew up in Northern California came to live in Humboldt, KS and I think it’s a pretty good candidate bio, that also covers some of my platform.

I gave an interview to one of our local papers the Iola Register that covers why I'm running and some of the high points of my platform.

If you have any questions about the platform, or if you want clarification on an issue, or if you just want to say hello, my email is alana@alana4ks.com.
